Purpose of the Site
Illinois makes many jail, court, and custody records available to the public, but the records are not held in one place. Stephenson County Jail is operated by the Stephenson County Sheriff's Office. Sentenced state prisoners are handled by the Illinois Department of Corrections. Federal and immigration custody use still different systems. This site brings those public routes into a local reference format for Stephenson County users.
The site focuses on the practical questions people usually have after an arrest or jail booking: where to search, which office controls the record, how to reach the jail, how court records differ from booking records, and when a written request may be needed.

Search Partners
Some pages include search boxes or sponsored tools provided by third-party partners. Those providers may charge fees, set their own account rules, and return results from databases outside our control. If a visitor uses a paid partner tool, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the local reference content available without a direct charge to readers.
